How many times do you wish someone would have taught you how to create a budget, explained student loans to you, told you about the car buying process and explained what an interest rate is? The list can go on and on to describe our lessons from the School of Hard Knocks when it comes to money. We all have made the mistakes and hopefully learned from them but one thing we can all agree on is, we wish someone would have taught us.
The purpose of this campaign is to break that generational curse of hearing people say, "I wish". Empower Your Cents is dedicated to providing Financial Education to our community, starting with out high school students. We are aiming to raise enough funds to sponsor 10 schools/organizations for 2 quarters starting in August 2018. They say children are our future so let's give them the best possible setup.
If we had any sort of financial education, the national debt wouldn't be in the trillions. There are multiple generations across all races who have very little knowledge about money and how it really works. By educating and empowering our young people and future generations, the ripple effect will change its direction to a positive one. Empower Your Cents was started by Lori Jackson. She realized that the community needed to understand the tool we utilize the most. From Pre-K to adults the curriculum used helps individuals understand money and gives them the tools necessary to apply it to their lives.
