For 25 years, TLC Family Resource Center has imagined a place where every child and every family enjoys economic, physical, social and spiritual security by trying to break down the barriers that families in our community face on a daily basis. We seek to make our community the best place
for families to raise a child.
Beliefs:
- We believe that the parent-child relationship is the most critical factor in the development of emotional, cognitive, physical and social health of children.
- We believe that the development of a trusting, respectful, genuine caring relationship between parents and those who help them is essential.
- We believe that prevention is better than intervention, and that all families deserve voluntary and timely access to family health and support services.
- We believe that families are the experts about their own lives.
- We welcome parents as partners in the governance of the agency.
- We encourage laughter and joy in our interactions with children and families and with our colleagues.
To achieve this vision, we offer many different programs and support for expecting mothers, new mothers, parents, children, youth, and LGBTQ+ people to help break down the barriers that may be preventing them from achieving our vision. We serve any family living in Sullivan and lower Grafton counties
All of our programs are free to our clients, which is made possible through grants, fundraising events, sales from the TLC Children's Thrift Store, and donations from supporters. Fundraising events include the Born to Run 5K and annual dinner in the autumn. We also participate in a variety of community events to share about the agency and interact with the community in a more casual setting. For every $200 in donations, we will be breaking down the barriers by removing one block at a time on a wall located on our website.
