We are extremely proud of our strong girls basketball tradition here at Boise High School. Our program-wide goal is to positively influence the lives of our student-athletes by building character, teamwork, and leadership skills.
Our student-athletes excel both on the court and in the classroom. We also place emphasis on program-wide community service and hold an annual PINK ZONE event which raises funds and awareness for breast cancer research. In our 12 years of holding the PINK ZONE event we've raised over $26,000 for our local chapter of the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
Last year's season was severely impacted due to COVID protocols. Our teams competed with a truncated schedule and began the season over a month behind most of the teams in the rest of the state. Further safeguards including restrictions on team practice time, daily symptom checks, and stringent limits on fans for games created a strange and stressful season for all involved. Impressively, all three teams safely navigated the season and the Varsity won the Consolation Championship as well as the Sportsmanship trophy at the Idaho State Tournament.
Due to all of the chaos of the previous season, our program did zero fundraising during the 2020-2021 season. Instead, we've reached deep into any program savings to cover our limited Summer 2021 season and start-up costs for 2021-2022. We've created this GiveGab fundraiser to continue supporting our student-athletes and our program as a whole. Money raised will be used to purchase new equipment for the program and offer meals as well as team-building opportunities for all three teams.
