BGC-Bandera County Giving Tuesday 2017

The Cycle of Care: Young Hearts Caring for Senior Citizens

A fundraising campaign for Boys & Girls Clubs of Bandera County
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Bandera County strive to impact the lives of our local youth, ages 5-18, through three priority outcomes:  Academic Success, Good Character and Citizenship, and Healthy Lifestyles.  Our youth exhibit Good Character and Citizenship through acts of caring for others, who, like themselves, can be considered "the least of these".  This year, our Giving Tuesday focus is on our community senior citizens, who need the care and concern of the community to encourage them and show them they are still a vital part of society, and worthy of respect and honor.  On December 6th, our three sites will lead a Christmas Card Project, whereby our local Coldwell Banker Realty office will volunteer to help our staff and youth create handmade Christmas cards for our senior citizens who reside in both of our assisted living facilities, as well as for the recipients of our Bandera County Meals on Wheels program.  Without YOU, we are not able to continue bringing GREAT FUTURES programming to our local youth!  Families are impacted with YOUR HELP, through mentoring and tutoring programs to improve grades, through programs that teach self-respect, team-building, and how to make correct choices by not engaging in self-destructive behavior, as well as offering sports and physical activities that keep young bodies in motion, and learning about healthy nutrition.  Our mission statement says it all:  "To inspire and enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens.” YOUR year-end donation will provide our youth, staff, and volunteers with great encouragement and resources, as we strive to continue to bring needed service to our Bandera County families in 2018!
Lexi (age 9) sums it up best:  "If you don’t go to BGC you are missing out. It’s the best place to be after a long day of hard work at school. Also if you are hungry when you get here you get a snack YUM!! My favorite part out of all of it is the staff. They are nice and funny. I hope that if you are reading this your next thought will be “I think I should go to BGC as soon as I can”. Thank you
