Because every child deserves the right to play.

Help us build an inclusive playground at our Green Acres School that will give the gift of play to hundreds of children of all different abilities.

A fundraising campaign for The Arc Erie County New York

Play for a child with disabilities is one of the most important aspects of therapy. Interaction with others and a way to engage with the environment around them is crucial to their development and quality of life. All children deserve a place for them to play, a place where play is integrated with their siblings and other children, one place where they can go and not feel any different from other children.

The Arc Erie County New York operates a preschool program in the Town of Tonawanda that welcomes more than 140 very special children each and every day. Many of these children face tremendous challenges in their life - whether it be the use of a wheelchair, walker, or other physical disability that prevents them from interacting or experiencing the world in the same way as their peers. Although our school offers many opportunities inside for children to play and learn alongside each other, we currently have no appropriate outdoor play opportunities.

Through our partnership with the Mason's Mission Foundation, we have developed a state-of-the-art inclusive playground specially designed to provide a place where children of all ability can laugh, play, and grow in the same space. This expertly designed playground has everything a child could want - slides, swings, carousel, dome, musical instruments, and much more! Not only will the children love using it but therapists have also been included in every step of the process ensuring that this area can be used as an additional space for children to participate in physical and occupational therapy.

Thanks to the outpouring of support from our community partners - including The Mason's Mission Foundation, James H. Cummings Foundation, and The Arc Erie County Employee Directed Fund - we are almost to our goal. At the start of this campaign, we are only $34,750 away from our goal of $200,000 to make this playground a reality. If we are able to reach our goal by May 31st, children will be on this playground by this Summer!
