Why should you support the Be the Solution Award?
As COVID-19 raged across the globe, many members of The Haven Family became increasingly committed to fighting the COVID pandemic. Some examples of this selflessness include:
- Twenty students and faculty training through Johns Hopkins to become COVID case investigators and contact tracers, completing over 150 case and over 2000 contact tracing investigations.
- Over 100 students assisting in the universal COVID testing program and assisting in conducting over 10,000 screening tests lead by Anna Mae Smith, PA-C, Jason Erlandson, ATC and the Health Science Department.
- The Health Science and Psychology Club, lead by Dr. Jennifer Rudella, stepping up to gather data over an 8-week period and reporting weekly findings to the Centers of Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) when the CDC asked for assistance in studying mask compliance on United States university and college campuses.
- LHU students and staff taking on the “Vaccine Challenge” and assisting over 500 community members to register for a vaccine when the COVID-19 Phase 1A Vaccination rollout began
The Be the Solution Award will be dedicated to funding creative solutions to complicated problems identified and addressed by LHU students. The goal of the Be the Solution Award is to engage students in taking social responsibility in connecting theory and in acting to develop creative solutions which better the world they live in. Your donation today will help us foster a culture that enables our students to do just that, and Dr. Beth McMahon is also willing to match the first $5,000 in donations with an additional $5,000 to get this award endowed.
