Bayou Community Foundation has activated its Bayou Recovery Fund to provide emergency grants to Lafourche, Terrebonne and Grand Isle nonprofits serving local residents suffering from the devastating physical, mental and financial impacts of COVID-19 in our Bayou Region.

Our Bayou Region is no stranger to disasters, but through hurricanes and other disastrous events, we also are an amazingly generous community, helping each other recover and rebuild. In this spirit, BCF established the Bayou Recovery Fund shortly after our founding in 2012 to accept donations for relief and recovery if and when the next natural or man-made disaster strikes our Bayou Region. Gifts to the fund provide immediate grants to local nonprofits serving critical needs of local disaster victims and helping our community rebuild. Today, the Bayou Recovery Fund is accepting your gifts to help local residents suffering from the impacts of the massive health and economic emergency - COVID-19.
The impacts are already escalating.
Area nonprofits are seeing a drastic jump in requests for food, rent and utility assistance as so many men and women in our community are out of work, and the numbers will continue to grow as we take more precautions to protect ourselves and stem the spread of the virus.
Food banks are struggling to meet the increased need for food staples that many of us take for granted, and are developing new ways to distribute food in order to protect clients and volunteers. Other nonprofits are fielding hundreds of pleas for help from residents unable to meet rent or utilities payments during this scary time, and answering calls for crisis counseling. The needs of our health care heroes who are on the front lines caring for COVID-19 patients are also of top concern.
