Baby Café Bakersfield serves the young families of our community by supporting them to meet their own infant feeding goals. We provide professional lactation care and peer breastfeeding support in a welcoming environment to ensure that new mothers and their partners & other support people feel comfortable.
Families come to Baby Café to ask questions, to weigh their infants, to discuss advice they have received from other healthcare providers, to have their baby's latch assessed, to discuss issues with their milk production, to learn how to use their breast pump, to learn how to express their milk by hand, for breast problems like engorgement, plugged ducts & soreness, to get information about creating a safe sleep environment for their baby, to learn how to begin feeding their baby solid foods, to talk about issues that arise when they return to outside employment or school, to get information about their baby's development, and so much more.
We offer light snacks and beverages, comfortable seating and toys for toddlers, private areas for those who need them, and a pediatric-quality infant scale.
