Arch Tech Fundraiser-Celebrating the Great Bridge!

Support the Architectural Technology Department

A fundraising campaign for City Tech Annual Fund

Join us in supporting City Tech's Department of Architectural Technology and celebrating 140+ years since the opening of the Brooklyn Bridge as we gather where it all started in downtown Brooklyn.  The Celebration will take place at the base of the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges, in the main theater of the Academic Complex at New York City College of Technology, located at 285 Jay Street, Brooklyn, NY 11201.

Come join authors, historians, scholars, and bridge enthusiasts as they share their technical knowledge of Roebling’s Bridges and the legacy of John, Washington, and Emily Roebling, who made the great bridge possible.

The celebration begins on Saturday morning with presentations on the early bridges of John A. Roebling, the engineering of the Brooklyn Bridge, a display of glass negative slides of its construction, and modern photographs of the Brooklyn, Williamsburg, Manhattan, and George Washington Bridges – whose cables were spun by John A. Roebling’s Sons Company.

The afternoon will focus on the Roebling family, starting with a review of John A. Roebling’s early education in Germany, a presentation on John’s life here in America, and the contributions of Washington and Emily Roebling.

Optional activities include a Saturday Evening Social gathering to meet our speakers and Sunday Morning Tours of the Brooklyn Bridge led by our presenters.

Full programs and details are available on the celebration website.

Architects and Engineers can earn continuing education credits.
