Bigger than a building. While Arcade continues to monitor public health and safety news to determine when we will welcome guests back into our building, the organization will in the meantime pivot to outdoor classes and shows. With the comfort and safety of our patrons, artists, and staff leading all decisions, we hope a temporary reimagining of our normal operation restores joy, laughter and a sense of community in downtown Pittsburgh where we left it. We will continue to offer online education and entertainment options found on our /Live page or on our YouTube channel.
We want to provide the safest environment possible for our artists to return to their craft, and the opportunity for Arcade’s guests to come together for laughter, community, and comfort. This requires an increase in operational expenses for cleaning supplies, safety equipment, costs incurred due to a new flexible return policy, and safety signage, all while selling a reduced number of possible seats for patrons during a reduced number of weekly shows from our previous 9 shows each and every week prior to the COVID-19 shutdown.
Whether you're attending an outdoor show or class, or are more comfortable tuning in for one of our online shows or workshops, we hope you'll continue supporting Arcade by donating to this page. The impact of Arcade's temporary COVID-19 closure since March 13th is immense, as Arcade is a bustling comedy community full of performances, events, classes, and rehearsals each and every week. During this hiatus, Arcade has had to cancel or postpone over 194 primetime productions, 10 Penny Arcade children's shows, 33 class shows, 7 corporate events and rentals, 23 workshops, 198 classes, 4 kids camp class sessions, 2 birthday parties, 5 Pop-Up Nights, and 175 rehearsals. Since March 13th, the staff and artist community has pivoted to present over 30 online shows to 6,000+ viewers, and 8 online classes and workshops to 69 students through its Arcade at Home shows and classes.
Your financial support is critical to the continued health of the organization through this unimaginably difficult time for nonprofit organizations across the country. Your continued support and sharing of this page makes a huge difference each week--you can use bit.ly/ArcadeOasis to share this page with others! You'll notice there is an option to set recurring monthly donations after you click the "Make A Donation" button--if you are financially able to do so, setting up a monthly donation offers us a way to monitor donation income in a stable way to help plan for our future.
Thank you for contributing, sharing this page, or just enjoying some of our outdoor or virtual content. We can't wait to hear your laughter again soon. Sending you love and laughs from Arcade's Board and Staff. Stay well, friends!
