Apartment Fire Relief Fund

A fundraising campaign for Family Service Agency

Help Support our 200 neighbors that were displaced in the DeKalb Hunter Properties fires in early July and the over 100 affected by the Sycamore fire.

Join Us in Helping Hundreds Displaced by Fires

On Tuesday, July 9, a fire broke out at a Hunter Properties apartment building at 808 Ridge Drive in DeKalb.  The blaze led to people jumping from windows to avoid heavy smoke and fire.  City officials condemned the building, displacing 140 residents, many of whom have nowhere else to go.

A second fire occurred on July 11, at 930 Greenbriar, another Hunter Properties apartment complex, displacing a further 14 families, bringing the total number to around 200 residents left without homes, belongings, clothing, or comfort.

A third fire occurred on 711 S Main Street in Sycamore on July 27th, affecting around 120 residents.

Here's where we come in.

What We Can Do

Many of these families lost everything but the clothes on their backs.  Those that did not lose everything cannot get to their things because going back in these unsafe buildings is prohibited. Local agencies are stretched to the limit and can't provide relief for all of the victims of the fires.

These displaced families are our friends, neighbors, employees, and coworkers, and it is up to us to step in and provide for them in their hour of need.
