Ithaca Welcomes Refugees needs your help! We’re marshalling local resources to assist one of our families in filing applications for entry into the U.S. for 21 relatives who are in danger under Taliban rule in Afghanistan. The family themselves experienced firsthand the trauma of evacuating from Kabul, when the Taliban’s unexpectedly swift takeover of the country turned a visit to see family - for perhaps the last time - into a frantic race to get back home, with children in tow. They are now back home, safe but shaken and concerned for their relatives.
The family’s relatives are Afghans who worked with the U.S. military, plus their spouses and children. All are in danger because of their service to the U.S. and we have a chance to bring them to safety.
It costs $575 to submit each of the 21 applications, making our goal $12,075 in total. We are asking for your donations to make this possible. Please also share this campaign with your friends, family, and social networks to make the biggest possible difference. Thank you!
