Abilities First is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization serving the needs of 1,400 individuals age birth through life with intellectual or developmental disabilities. Of this population within the Hudson Valley region, approximately 70% fall within the poverty line.
Annually, we identify the most vulnerable families for whom Thanksgiving dinner is often not likely to occur or be special. This is usually between 50-60 families of varying sizes. The average cost of a Thanksgiving meal for a family of four is $25.
We are asking the community to assist by making a monetary donation. All funds raised through the Abilities First 2019 Holiday Helping Hands campaign will purchase Thanksgiving meals for Abilities First Families in need this holiday season. Funds will purchase turkeys, stuffing, mashed potatoes, vegetables, pies and hopefully more!
Your gift of $25 by November 15th will directly impact one family's opportunity to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday by gathering together around a hot meal.
