Alexandria Resilience Fund

Alexandrians are known for their generosity. Now is the time for all of us to come together to support our neighbors affected by COVID-19.

A fundraising campaign for ACT: Alexandria Resilience Fund

About the Alexandria Resilience Fund

The Alexandria Resilience Fund was created to respond to community needs during the COVID-19 pandemic. Funded by the CARES Act, the Alexandria Resilience Fund is a partnership between the City of Alexandria and ACT for Alexandria, the City’s community foundation. The first phase of COVID-19 relief funding was made through the ACT Now COVID-19 Response Fund, awarding $990,000 to 82 organizations. The second phase of funding began in October, and was made possible through a CARES Act award from the City of $2 million. The Fund made grants up to $50,000 to 57 organizations from October to December 30, 2020.

Funding Priorities

Continuing this funding is vital to the well-being of Alexandria. We know that the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, both from a health and economic perspective, are going to be with us for the long term. And we know that now is the time to innovate for a better future with equity at the center. The disproportionate impact of COVID-19 has exacerbated the pre-existing inequities in our community. The Alexandria Resilience Fund intends to support organizations committed to addressing racial equity and that have deep, trusted relationships with communities that have been marginalized and are on the sidelines of Alexandria’s prosperity.
