Abilities First 2017 Holiday Giving

Supporting Abilities First Families in Need During the Holidays

A fundraising campaign for Abilities First

Join the Abilities First Service Coordination & Day Habilitation Departments in collecting monetary and food donations to benefit Abilities First families in need this holiday season. Please help Abilities First raise $2,000 by Thanksgiving Day (November 24) to bridge the gap of what regional funding has supported, in meeting the needs of the families identified for the two Abilities First initiatives listed below.

Cash donations will be accepted through this GiveGab page or send a check to Abilities First, Attn: Advancement, 70 Overocker Rd, Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. Gift cards and food drive items listed below are also are welcome.

Abilities First is providing food and groceries to over 40 families so that they can enjoy a Thanksgiving meal at home.

If you would like to donate, collection boxes will be located at:

  • AF Administrative Offices, 70 Overocker Rd, Poughkeepsie
  • Off-site locations throughout the organization

Suggested Donations Include: Canned Vegetables and Fruit, Boxed Potatoes and Rice , Boxed Pasta Mixes, Boxed or Bagged Stuffing Mixes, Bags of Flour, Cornmeal, Biscuit Mixes, Boxes of Baking Goods and Pie Fillings, Cans of Gravy, Frozen Turkey and Chicken

In the spirit of giving, Abilities First is adopting families to provide holiday gifts for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities we serve and their families - over 150 individuals. In addition to the grants received through Holiday Helping Hand, a partnership between United Way of the Dutchess-Orange Region and the Poughkeepsie Journal, we are asking you to please donate today to help us cover the costs. With the money that is raised, Abilities First will be able to purchase toys, clothes, gifts, food, basic necessities and provide utility assistance for these families in need.

Interested in adopting a family? Contact Bea Fornells at 845.485.9803 ext. 248 for more information.
