If you talk to a debater, you’ll hear one thing over and over: no part of their education had a larger impact in their life than debate.
For NAUDL and the Urban Debate Network, the last two years of virtual and hybrid debate have certainly presented challenges, but from dynamic programs like our White & Case NAUDL Fellows internship, to our I RESOLVE Public Debate Series, we have never wavered in our commitment that debate programs are more important than ever for today’s students. As we excitedly return to in-person events and programs, we invite you to join us in supporting the upcoming generation of civic leaders, academics, and innovators – helping them grow and succeed through debate.
Recent studies have found that participation in debate increases a student’s GPA by .66 points, and increases their Math and Reading SAT scores by over 50 points. At NAUDL, we look to extend these benefits to schools and students that would not otherwise have access to these opportunities. The last few years have demonstrated that, despite obstacles that might arise in their daily lives at home or in the classroom, debate remains at the center of our students' hearts as they plan for the future.
Last year, thanks to the generosity of our donors and sponsors, we were able to offer training, resources, and professional development to our coaches. We were able to provide supplemental grants and financial support to our leagues. We joined together to host forums and platforms that promote not just competition, but community. This facilitated 7,000+ debaters participating in a life-changing activity.
To strengthen our efforts to make this the best year possible, please join us on this national day of giving by making a donation to NAUDL. With 22 cities in our network, we want you to know your donation is not a means to an end. Rather, it is a means of impact in the lives of middle and high school students across the country. Join us this Giving Tuesday in helping us to build A Future That Flows.
