19th Annual [Virtual] Kids Are Our Business!

Please help us to meet our goal for our largest fundraiser of the year to benefit services for youth victims of sexual and domestic violence.

A fundraising campaign for Advocacy Center

Important Note:  Updated 6/10/20

The Dear KAOB Supporter,

Our Board and Leadership Team has made the decision to postpone our virtual Kids Are Our Business (KAOB) breakfast to the fall. It was a difficult decision, as we all know how essential KAOB is for supporting our youth programs and services. However, it is the right decision to hit pause at this time.

To ensure a successful virtual KAOB this month would require significant outreach with heavy fundraising messaging in a time in which we, as an agency, feel called to respond to the community about structural racism and police violence and the real ways that survivors of interpersonal violence are impacted.  And we are hearing from our community and supporters that with the multiple collective stressors and traumas of the last few months people are distracted, angry, grieving and fatigued. This did not feel like the appropriate time to reach out to our supporters with our KAOB messaging.

Kids Are Our Business will happen this year. The pandemic has forced us to be more flexible than ever! We're regrouping and later this summer will be back with a solid plan for this year's event. Come fall, we will need your help more than ever to raise funds to support our programs and services for youth survivors. This campaign we launched will resume and any donations already made will be a part of the fall event (including prize drawings).

Staff and the Board are actively working on KAOB and other fundraising strategies behind the scenes as we work to make sure that all survivors receive the support they deserve during this difficult time.

We truly appreciate your heart, hard work, and generosity.

Sincerely,

Heather Campbell, Executive Director

Louise Miller, Director of Programming

Join us for our 19th Annual VIRTUAL

Kids Are Our Business (KAOB) Breakfast!

Kids Are Our Business (KAOB) is the Advocacy Center's largest fundraiser, and we we were planning an amazing 19th annual event this June to support our youth services programs. When it became clear that our usual packed room of supporters would not be possible this year, we just knew we had to take the spirit of KAOB to the virtual realm--AND that’s just what we’ve done! We thought about the things that we love the most about this event.  The feeling of community with our Table Captains- our fantastic volunteers that make sure all 270 seats at Celebrations are filled!.  The beautiful flowers.  The silly hats.  And the raffle (we know you love the raffle!).  So we're making sure we still share those things in our virtual event--and the good news is that there's no space limit so we can share the KAOB magic with everyone this year!  While we are very excited about our virtual event we still need your help. Without KAOB, we have a large hole in our budget; which is particularly concerning considering the increase in needs we anticipate this year. So, what can you do? No matter how you participate in this year's event we truly appreciate your support to make sure that abused youth in Tompkins County have the support and services they need.

How to Get Involved

1) Donate Now! Help Us Fill our Virtual Tables

Please make your donation above and we will assign you to a virtual table! The suggested donation for  an individual virtual seat is $40. All "ticket holders" receive one entry to the virtual door prizes. If you want to increase your chances of winning a door prize, every donation of $10 above the suggested ticket fee leads to an additional entry!

2) Find Your Virtual Table Captain's Fundraising Page!

If you know one of our Virtual Table Captains who shared this event and asked you to join them at their table, find the link to their fundraiser campaign on this page and make your donation there. This will automatically assign you to their table =). Same goes for bonus entries for the virtual door prizes, every additional $10 donated above the suggested ticket fee of $40 equals an extra entry!

3) Sign Up to be a Virtual Table Captain This Year!

Are you just itching to share the magic of KAOB with your friends, family, coworkers, and the world?! Fill your own table for this year's virtual KAOB. Simply click on the "Start Fundraising" button above to set up your page! It's as easy as 1-2-3, and only takes a few minutes to set-up. After you enter your basic information, viola! you will have your very own fundraising page where you can  "sell" tickets at your virtual table. You can send emails and/or share your fundraiser with a personalized directly from your page, or share your personal link with family, friends and colleagues.

Prize Drawings: The KAOB Virtual UnRaffle

We can't have our usual raffle spread this year but we knew we couldn’t do KAOB without some kind of prize drawings! So this year we are excited to announce the Virtual UnRaffle with prizes from our wonderful local businesses!

Every guest who makes a donation will be entered into our "Un-Raffle" drawing. For every $10 donated over the suggested $40 donation, you increase your chances of winning with a bonus prize ticket! For example, if you donate $100 you will get six additional tickets in the virtual drawing.

We also have some friendly competition drawings for the Virtual Tables that raise the most money and the Tables that fill the most virtual seats.
