T.R.Y. to Help The Helpers, 1 October, Route 91

A fundraising campaign for Trauma Recovery Yoga LLC

Serving those who serve! Offering somatic, mindfulness, and breathing techniques that foster more balanced nervous systems and an overall feeling of well being.

T.R.Y. Trauma Recovery Yoga’s mission is to “help people, help people.” We are committed to facilitating emotional intelligence and resiliency by training individuals in the TRY method of yoga-science.

As we cross the 1 year mark since the One October tragedy,  It is, as expected we start seeing very obvious symptoms of those traumatized coming to the surface and into the community.

As many are just coming out of isolation confused why they are not feeling more relief, losing hope that life will never seem normal again, there is a rise in depression, suicide and violence in both attendees and those working at or responding to the scene.

T.R.Y. has been working in our community.  Helping with recovery from the shock and lasting, debilitating symptoms of this traumatic experience. We bring these services not only to those who attended or worked the concert but to First Responders, such as, Fire Fighters, Police, Coroners, Hospital staff, and more.  This is a marathon not a sprint, many are just beginning to seek help.  Please donate today and help us "help the helpers".

T.R.Y. has been working in the community for years helping many other vulnerable populations as well.  Providing classes in eleven, local title 1 schools with our at risk youthT.B.I. (traumatic brain injury patients), those suffering with diagnosis such as cancer, HIV/Aids, victims of domestic abuse and sexual crimesspecial needs children, those suffering in drug recovery and of course our Vets and active Military to name a few.  In 2017, TRY served over 6000 people and has seen some incredible results!

According to Samhsa-HRSA Center for Integrated Health Solutions; In the United States, 61 percent of men and 51 percent of women report exposure to at least one lifetime traumatic event, and 90 percent of clients in public behavioral health care settings have experienced trauma. If trauma goes unaddressed, people with mental illnesses and addictions will have poor physical health outcomes and ignoring trauma can hinder recovery.  The science of the mind shows us trauma has a physiological and psychological effect on our brains which can disrupt our resilience and fortitude. At T.R.Y. we work with health or behavioral care professionals to address all effects of trauma on the body, mind and emotions bringing a whole health option to those we serve.

The T.R.Y. method is an all levels science and psychology based "do no harm" yoga-based practice which emphasizes four key themes, including: experiencing the present moment (presence), exercising choice (empowerment), taking effective action (resilience), and creating internal rhythms and positive affirmations (mindfulness). The T.R.Y. method emphasizes an individual’s choice to experience yoga at their pace and comfort level  (even if that means sitting still, breathing with the group and nothing more)
