Sea Change Yogathon 2020

Compassion in Action

A fundraising event for Sea Change Yoga

Event Information

Sunday, March 29, 2020 from 9:00am - 1:00pm

On Sunday, March 29, Sea Change Yoga will live stream a Virtual Yogathon to share yoga and other mindfulness practices and connect our community during these unprecedented times. Virtual Yogathon is FREE and open to all!

Donations to Yogathon are appreciated-- donate to the event above, and support Sea Change Yoga's mission to bring the healing power of yoga and meditation to Maine communities that are underserved and marginalized.

Though we have programming from 9:00 am - 4:30 pm, the schedule is designed so that you can choose the sessions you want to participate in from the comfort of your home! The Zoom Room will be open all day and you can come and go as you like.

We have scheduled breaks between each session so that you can take care of yourself and we can address any technological challenges on our end.

About the Organization

Sea Change Yoga is a nonprofit yoga service organization based in Portland, ME. We bring the evidence based practices of yoga and meditation to those who have experienced trauma, are under-served and marginalized, and in need of the emotional regulation and increased physical and mental health that yoga and meditation practice provides.

We currently teach 24 trauma-informed yoga classes each week to over 250 students at residential treatment facilities, substance use recovery centers, correctional institutions, and others.

Our trauma-informed teaching strategies are designed to be uniquely effective for students with trauma in their background. We are modifying the elements of traditional yoga to facilitate mindfulness, maximize tolerance, build empowerment, and cultivate a more positive relationship to one’s body.

These simple, yet powerful tools of transformation reduce stress and anxiety, support the addiction recovery process, help break the cycle of substance abuse and incarceration, and so much more.
