7th Annual San Antonio Book Festival

A fundraising campaign for San Antonio Book Festival

Help us unite readers & writers in San Antonio on April 6, 2019. Your contribution helps keep the Festival free & open to all!

It was a mighty chilly day on April 7, 2018, but that didn't stop an estimated 22,000 people of all ages from attending the 6th annual San Antonio Book Festival at the Central Library and Southwest School of Art. With record attendance and impact, it was another day for the books—from the outstanding author lineup that included heavyweights such as Jorge Ramos, Sandra Cisneros, Jason Reynolds, and more, to the hilarity at our Book Appétit luncheon featuring comedian Paula Poundstone, to the epic night of storytelling at The Moth Mainstage, to the number of students influenced by educational outreach efforts.

Help us make our 2019 Book Festival just as spectacular!

Please save the date for Saturday, April 6, from 9am — 5pm when the free 7th annual Festival will feature more than 90 national and regional authors in over 70 sessions, presenting new books for readers of all ages, from Pulitzer Prize winners for adults to Caldecott Medal winners for children.

Here’s what your contribution goes toward:

  • logistical support for programming and entertainment (tents, chairs, A/V, etc. ... in other words, the nuts & bolts!)
  • author travel and accommodation (in other words, the main event!)
  • visits to the Festival for students from low-income areas (in other words, giving young readers a Festival experience!)
  • book giveaways for students at the Festival with an organized group (in other words, making sure there's a book at home!)
  • author visits to underrepresented schools, including book giveaways (in other words, getting kids excited about reading through the experience of meeting an author with whom they can connect!)
  • children's and family activities at the Festival (enhancing the Festival experience for everyone!)
  • special events for participating authors (showing them a good time so they love San Antonio!)
  • Get Lit free readings throughout the year

Funding for SABF comes from the City of San Antonio, Bexar County, foundations, corporations, and private donations. While SABF is the signature program of the Library Foundation, funds raised for the Book Festival are restricted to the Festival. Funds raised for the foundation do not support the Festival.

All donations help keep the Festival free and open to all. Thank you for your support!
