Lucky Orphans is proud to annouce our Annual Campaign starting on January 1, 2024 through New Years Eve 2024.  We hope this campaign helps improve awareness of our mission, while raising the important funds to care for our herd through the Winter. We hope to raise the $600,000 needed for the full care of our herd for an entire year. This funding will cover the vital things the horses need such as hay, grain, bedding, vet and farrier care, as well as facility expenses.

Lucky Orphans Executive Director, Deanna Mancuso says, "The horses that live here offer the surrounding areas of Dutchess, Putnam, Westchester and Litchfield counties so much through our mission of People Helping Horses Heal People. Each gift to this campaign is needed to support the 48 horses."

According to Patricia McDonald of TX, "Lucky Orphans Horse Rescue is an amazing sanctuary that provides a safe environment for the horses to live out their lives. So many horses have been rescued and given a place to live where they receive the love and care that they deserve. For this reason I whole heartedly believe in this sanctuary. I have been donating for several years and I trust that what I am donating to LOHR is going directly to the care of the farm and horses. Deanna and other staff members give their heart and soul to keep these beautiful horses safe, to provide a healthy environment for the horses and to give them the best possible care. There are very few sanctuaries that provide the programs that LOHR does. To help those in need that maybe are suffering from depression, PTSD, home situations that are difficult is amazing. Spending time with a horse is some of the best therapy you can receive.
I feel blessed that I found a sanctuary that I can be a part of, that I believe in and am happy to donate too. "

About Lucky Orphans Horse Rescue

People Helping Horses Heal People is the mission that guides everything we do. It holds us to the highest standard of care and rehabilitation for our horses and is at the heart of our educational approach and programming. As a sanctuary, we are committed to the life-long wellbeing of our horses and believe in the healing bond between humans and horses.

Since Lucky Orphans opened its barn doors in 2008 we have helped many horses, along with some sheep and goats, find a more promising and meaningful future. It is our goal to not only save these wonderful animals but to also strengthen the relationship between people and animals to build a more compassionate future. Today, we are proud to be the highest accredited equine facility in the most densely horse populated county in New York State.
