Montrose West Recreation, Inc. (MWR) was founded in 1979. The mission of Montrose West Recreation is to assist with and coordinate for all citizens of West Montrose County a variety of recreational opportunities.
Our goal is to continue to provide a variety of recreational activities to the citizens of the West End. As a non-profit group, MWR is a steward of public and private money. We are able to manage and distribute funds in order to help organizations and individuals to reach their recreational goals.
Past and present programs include:
Golf, swim lessons, ski club, bicycle maintenance, tennis lessons, BMX & balance bike racing, Pickleball, film presentations in the park, quilting & art classes, youth summer camps, adult volleyball & softball league, youth basketball & football. youth softball leagues, walking challenge, mountain bike check out, and weekly rides.
We also partner with the Nucla-Naturita Area Chamber of Commerce (NNACC), the West End Schools, Unaweep-Tabeguache Scenic Byway Council, BLM and USFS, The Wright Stuff Foundation and the Colorado Plateau Mountain Bike Trail Assn. (COPMOBA).
