2018 READATHON

a 24-hour out loud reading challenge to raise funds and awareness for the Tompkins County Public Library

WHAT: The READATHON is our challenge to read out loud - one reader at a time, 30 minutes each, for 24 hours straight - to raise funds for our public library. This year our goal is to raise $25,000 with your help. Take a stand (or a comfy seat!) and help raise money and awareness.

WHEN & WHERE: Saturday, September 29 @ noon through Sunday, September 30 @ noon, on the corner at 101 East Green Street, right in front of the public library

WHY: The TCPL lends nearly a million items each year- a remarkably high level for a community of our size. Supporting a reader with your donation helps our library to provide materials like books, music, DVDs, computer stations and other digital tools, as well as guidance and support for our patrons.

But the library's not just about things- it's also a place for babies to experience early literacy by engaging with books in story time, a place where job-seekers can get help navigating online listings and applications. It's a safe place for teens to be entertained and explore, a place to feature local voices and encourage the expression of new ones. It's a place to engage the imagination and come together. It is truly the heart of our community.

And it's all possible thanks to donations such as yours. Please support our fearless readers and give today!
