2018 Giving Tuesday

Shelter the homeless, feed the hungry, strengthen families, care for children, assist veterans, and protect the elderly with your gift to Catholic Charities.

Thanks to concerned people like you, every 30 seconds someone finds HOPE at one of Catholic Charities 170 locations throughout Cook and Lake Counties.

Many seniors who attend the Catholic Charities senior day centers have dementia, Alzheimer's disease or other physical disabilities.  They enter the center shy and unsure of themselves. Bob was one of these people.  He sat alone in a corner, not wanting to interact.  Our activity director noticed that he enjoyed writing, and before long Bob was leading a men's writing group, laughing and interacting with others all day long.  Today, Bob continues to thrive thanks to the hope and support he received from Catholic Charities and he is a shining light to all at the center.

Homeless for two years, Craig was a person desperately holding on to a sliver of hope when a Catholic Charities caseworker named Remona met him.   This was a turning point in Craig’s life.  Barely an adult, he became homeless at the age of 21. Not having the right tools to move forward, he lived in a homeless shelter for youth for two years.  Craig now lives in his own affordable apartment that Catholic Charities helped him secure, and recently started a paid internship at the Proviso Leyden Council for Community Action where he will continue to inspire others to find hope and courage in the face of adversity.

Hope is a powerful and motivating force when the right tools are available.

Your compassionate support TODAY will connect another struggling person to our network of wrap-around services designed to help them start over and become as self-reliant as they can.
