Nothing makes you feel better than seeing a child smile during the holidays.  

For the past few years, GPD has partnered with Target for their "Heroes and Helpers" program - where local elementary kids are taken on a holiday shopping trip by a Gainesville Police Officer.

The kids are given a giftcard with a $100 balance and told they can spend it on anything they wish.  Most times, the kids choose to spend the money on their families...and the officers almost have to force them to spend it on something for themselves.

The children are selected by Gainesville Police School Resource Officers.  The kids selected do demonstrate a financial need, but they are also examples in their schools by way of their attitudes and grades.

The available grant funding for this program has unfortunately slipped this year, so we rely on YOUR donation to help put a smile on the faces of these children.  You can choose to give a few dollars, sponsor a full gift card for 1 child or even more.
