1st Annual Diamond in the Rough Hike-a-thon

Celebrate Earth Week and support PRI's Cayuga Nature Center and Museum of the Earth on April 28th 2018!

A fundraising event for Paleontological Research Institution, Museum of the Earth, and Cayuga Nature Center

10:00am Saturday, April 28, 2018

 The Hike-a-thon takes place on the beautiful Black Diamond Trail, on April 28th 2018. All proceeds and donations from the hike will be used to promote science education in our community through the programs we provide in environmental and Earth science at PRI's Cayuga Nature Center and Museum of the Earth. A perfect way to celebrate Earth Week! The hikes are appropriate for all ages and all hiking abilities.

Hike #1 begins at Treman Marine Park anytime between 10-11am.  Day of registration  opens at 9:30 am.  Participants will proceed to the Black Diamond Trail along a marked route. The distance to the Cayuga Nature Center is 5.4 miles.

Hike #2 begins at Glenwood Heights Road anytime between 11am-12pm. Participants will  be bused from Treman Marine to Glenwood Heights Road.  The distance from Glenwood Heights road to the Cayuga Nature Center is 2.1 miles.

Hike#3 begins and ends at the Cayuga Nature Center Pavillion at 12 noon and proceeds through the trails at the Nature Center. This option is available for those who may want a shorter hike. 

There are gift certificates from local outdoor retailers for top fundraisers!

The official festivities at the Cayuga Nature Center will begin at 1:30 with good company, live music, refreshments, animal programs and educational exhibits.Transportation back to Treman Marine Park is available to all participants. The last bus departs the Nature Center at 4:00pm.

NOTE: No dogs allowed at the Cayuga Nature Center or in the shuttle bus.
