We created this fundraiser to gain support for the 11th Annual “Karl Jackson Back to School Festival.”  This event is sponsored by the Kenwood Oakland Community Organization's (KOCO) Youth Council.  We will celebrate education, and provide school supplies for the youth in our community on Saturday, August 24th, 2019 at the Price/King outdoor field (4445 S. Drexel Boulevard) from 11:00am until 3:00pm.   The event will consist of food, music, games, activities for all ages, and the distributions of school supplies.

The Karl Jackson Back to School Jam started in 2005. It was organized by Marcus Holder, a long-standing community resident, to assist young people with the supplies needed to start the school year right.  In 2007, the KOCO Youth Council began working with Mr. Holder on the event and changed the name to the Karl Jackson Back to School Jam in memory of their close neighborhood friend who died of cancer at age 16.  Last year, we had over 300 participants, and it was a great success.

To have the best event for our youth, we need the support of businesses, churches, organizations, and individuals. We are asking for your support to cover the expenses of:
·     Food items (hot dogs, buns, juice boxes, hamburgers, chips, etc.)
·     School Supplies (back packs, paper, pencils, pens, folders, crayons, glue, etc.)
·     Prizes (toys, visors, pens, etc.)
·     Dunk Tank, Bounce House, clowns, sound equipment, tables and chairs
Donations are needed as soon as possible and will be accepted up until August 26th.
