GivingTuesday is a global generosity movement unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and the world. Taking place on December 1, this year’s GivingTuesday will occur during an unprecedented time for our nation and the world.
As we’ll all be facing the continued impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and highly elevated social activism surrounding racial injustice, we’ll need the generosity that GivingTuesday provides more than ever before.
In response to the increased need for action following the COVID-19 outbreak, the GivingTuesday team launched a separate day of global generosity on May 5 called GivingTuesdayNow. On this day, donations amounted to over $503 million online from around the world with $10.4 million raised by organizations using the GiveGab platform.
Reflecting back on GivingTuesday 2019, we saw thousands of organizations come together on GiveGab to raise an incredible $55.5 million. With the continued need for philanthropic support leading into 2021, we’re expecting to see even more giving through our various fundraising solutions.
Whether it’s hosting a Giving Day (for your community, school, hospital foundation, or nonprofit network), participating in a Giving Day, creating a custom donation form for your website, or launching a p2p campaign, we have a solution to meet the needs of your unique goals.
Below, we’ll cover how to use each of our fundraising solutions for GivingTuesday 2020.
- How to host a Giving Day
- How to participate in a Giving Day
- How to use embeddable donation forms
- How to run a solo p2p campaign or event
1. Host A Giving Day On GivingTuesday
When you host a Giving Day through GiveGab, you get a fully branded website for your chapters, nonprofit members, hospital funds, or higher education departments to fundraise and engage through.
We typically see Giving Days hosted by organizations that fall under the following categories:
- Community Foundations or United Ways to support their member or regional nonprofits
- Large cause-based nonprofits to support their chapter organizations
- Colleges and Universities to support their departments
- Hospital foundations to support their funds

2. Participate in a Giving Day Happening on GivingTuesday
If you’re a nonprofit organization looking to participate in a Giving Day, check out the GivingTuesday Giving Day map to see if there’s an event already happening in your area.
Participating in your local Giving Day is a great way for your organization to engage with your community in a new way and reach new donors and supporters with the tools and resources available to you on the site.
You can click on the event and sign up through the Giving Day site, and make sure to reach out through the chat bubble if you have any questions about the Giving Day.
3. Embed a Customized Donation Form Onto Your Site
With Enterprise donation forms, you can create a GivingTuesday campaign for your supporters directly on your organization’s website. These white label forms can be completely customized to your own branding guidelines for a truly unique feel. There is a lot of noise in the nonprofit space during GivingTuesday, by creating a seamless experience for your donors on a site they are already familiar with, your organization will be sure to stand out.
If you’d like to use one of your pre-existing Enterprise forms for GivingTuesday, Auto Data Capture allows you to set specific rules around your form to track traffic sources around GivingTuesday to measure your marketing efforts around the day.
A great example of how to use Enterprise in tandem with your live event can be found in this article summarizing Austin Community Foundation’s involvement with a live event for their community called A Night for Austin.
4. Spin up a Quick GivingTuesday Campaign
If participating in a local Giving Day isn’t an option for your organization or you’d prefer to spin up your own quick campaign with p2p fundraising functionality for GivingTuesday, GiveGab’s peer-to-peer fundraising suite is your ideal solution. Learn how to launch a quick p2p campaign here.
