Wheels for the Ward

Help the OFW Community Center keep our senior transportation program rolling with a new van!

A fundraising campaign for Old 1st Ward Community Association, Inc.

Currently, the OFW van is used every day to provide essential transportation services to seniors in our community and throughout Erie County. Our drivers ensure that individuals are able to safely arrive at their medical appointments, to grocery shop for their households, and to access many resources in WNY that they would not be able to get to easily without our program.

Due to frequent use and its age (over 10 years old), at this point our van has seen much better days. We are often spending money at our auto repair shop throughout the year to put “band aids” on the mechanical issues and there is a significant amount of cosmetic wear and tear on the vehicle as well. In the near future, we will have to take it off the road.

A new (used, but new to us!) van would greatly improve the quality of service we can provide to seniors in Erie County and would also open up new opportunities for our youth program to travel as well.

The First Niagara Foundation in partnership with KeyBank has generously granted us funds towards this campaign, putting us within $7,000 of our goal. Please consider making a contribution in any amount to our “Wheels for the Ward” campaign so we can make our new van dreams a reality.
