Lighting at The Farmers' Museum

Please support us on #GivingTuesday!

A fundraising campaign for The Farmers' Museum

Let there be light at The Farmers’ Museum!

Imagine nighttime in the 1840s. Can you picture it? Sitting around the table for dinner with your family with the room lit by candlelight. Cozy!

At The Farmers’ Museum we have the unique opportunity to share historic buildings and experiences from the 1840s. As you might imagine, we have a strict no candle policy in our historic buildings to protect our collection from fire hazard, so we are asking for your support to purchase new lanterns that are both bright and based on period lanterns.

Improved lighting in our historic village will give us more opportunities to expand programming when the ambient light levels are low such as summer nights and fall evenings. Currently we are not able to use the space as often as we’d like for performances and events. With the ability to offer evening dining experiences and better lit performances in the tavern, additional revenue can be generated to use for other projects at the farm, in addition to expanding the variety of offerings for members and visitors! Evenings in our historic village are a truly unique experience that we’d love to share with more people.

Your generous donations today will assist The Farmers’ Museum in purchasing realistic looking lanterns and candles modelled on period appropriate designs to be used by interpreters and in the historic buildings.

Thanks to a generous matching donor, all gifts received by The Farmers’ Museum from now until #GivingTuesday (December 3), will be doubled, up to a total of $10,000! This means your kind donation can make double the impact TODAY!!
